Youkilis OK

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff July 13, 2008 05:41 PM

Sox manager Terry Francona said Kevin Youkilis is doing fine after suffering a left arm contusion after being struck with a Daniel Cabrera pitch in the fifth inning. Youkilis came out of the game, but Francona said the ball hit the player in the funny bone area but that Youkilis shook it off.
He should be able to start Tuesday night at first base for the American League.

Jason Varitek went to have a quick exam on his right eye after the game. The catcher appeared to get some dirt in the eye and suffered from irritation and a bit of redness. It doesn't appear serious, either. Both Youkilis and Varitek were expected to make the All-Star train heading for New York for the game.
