Young's single scores Mauer, Twins lead 5-2

Delmon Young singled to right to score Joe Mauer from second base, giving the Twins a 5-2 lead over the Red Sox in the eighth inning. Mauer reached on a single and was advanced to second by Justin Morneau's single.

Jon Lester was taken out after striking out Craig Monroe. Lester threw 7 1/3 innings, striking out six while giving up three walks, and five runs (all earned) on nine hits. He threw 117 pitches, 78 for strikes.

David Aardsma replaced Lester and gave up Young's RBI single.
