Your first piece of Jason Bay trivia
Jason Bay, originally drafted by the Montreal Expos, is an alumnus of the Class A Vermont Expos. The last Vermont Expo to play for the Sox? Orlando Cabrera, and that worked out OK. Cabrera, of course, came in the trading deadline deal for Nomar in 2004.
Thanks to my friend Bruce Bosley of the University of Vermont communications dept. for passing that morsel along.

Congrats Boston fans... you will LOVE J-BAY, great ballplayer, better person, he will actually run out a ground ball, and make every play that should be made in LF. Plus you got him thru '09 and will be a bargain when it comes to sign. Especially if Sox keep winning. Good move by Theo. I really believe he will thrive in Boston. I hope the prospects we got in the 'burgh will help soon. GO SOX, unless against the Pirates.... I am a big Celtics fan since Bird, McHale, smokin Bobby Parrish, DJ, and glad they won... but I am still bitter about the Pats cheatin against my Steelers! LOL Good Luck J-Bay... you will be sorely missed. Congrats BoSox fans. You will love him.
Does that mean the Sox can look forward to a string on under achievers at the position?
Rent looked great here in ATL when Sox paid most of his salary. Dogs in Motor City
jason bay sucks look what they got nothing for manny he is the best hitter of this decade and they get some bum from the pirates awful trade manny is the best thing that happened to boston he will be missed
Everyone is ready to sell the season because Manny is gone. Looking at this deal from a financial aspect, we probably got 75% the player for 20% the price. Bay is a better left fielder, who is 6 years younger than Manny. Additionally next year when Schilling comes off the books, and we are only paying Jason Bay 7.5, we will still have 20+ million to go out and get another pitcher or whatever. Moss was never going to be an every day player for us, and while Hansen had a very high ceiling, of all our relievers he is the one I wouldn't mind parting with. Then theres the Boras factor. The Sox have a great relationship with Boras, who conveniently would not have made any money if we picked up Manny's options. Something tells me by making this deal happen it was a "If we do this for you, you owe us one later:" and given that Jason Bay is a Boras client, if he signs an extension, Boras does get paid. I have a feeling Bay will never get to free agency. Similar to the we sign JD Drew from Boras, and he delivers us Dice-K. This deal is going to work out for us in the long run.
