Buchholz shaky again

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 20, 2008 08:10 PM

BALTIMORE - Don't know how many more chances Clay Buchholz is going to get. With Tim Wakefield throwing on the side again yesterday and a few days away from being activated, Buchholz isn't making much of a case for staying.

With a 4-0 lead to maintain, Buchholz nearly gave it all back. It's 4-3 as the Orioles touched him up for three runs in the second inning. A pair of walks really hurt him as did Brian Roberts's bases-loaded two-run single. Lou Montanez also drove in a run.

  1. He's already gotten way too many chances.

I can't watch the games he pitches, but I've been periodically checking the score. Who didn't know he was gonna blow that lead?

He gets crushed the second time through the lineup every time.

Please no more. Tampa Bay, Minnesota, and the White Sox are winning every day. I know there's a lack of depth because of others' health problems, but you can't give games anymore. Buchholz can't pitch the rest of the year until, one way or the other, the playoff spot is decided.

  1. Tito,Theo or John- Please send this kid back to the PawSox! He needs to go back to the minors to get his Mojo back apparently. He threw a no-hitter last year but hasn't really contributed since that game. He is part of the teams future but not the present. Can we get a Colon update? I can see the Wild Card slipping away slowly and you know maybe that's the best thing. We will have to travel to Anahiem to play the Angels in the first round if the playoffs started today. I'm very grateful for the two championships that the Red Sox have won the last few years. If the Evil Empire fails to make the postseason that's icing on the cake! PS Get Well Yaz.

  1. When does he go back to the minors?
Also, what is wrong with the manager? They have the chance to get back in the game in the eighth and he leaves Cash in to strikeout.
His lineup is atrocious. This game was lost in first inning with no hit Bailey in the lineup.
