Endgame

Posted by Barbara Matson, Globe Staff August 17, 2008 02:15 PM

A solo shot from Lind in the third made it 7-0 and signalled the end for Beckett. David Aardsma started warming up, for the second time (he was up at the end of the first, too). Beckett struck out Barajas but then gave up a double to center to Overbay, and that was the end of his start.

The line on Beckett: 2 1/3 innings, 8 runs, all earned, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, 1 home run, 1 hit batsman. It was the shortest outing for Beckett since he went 1 1/3 innings June 5, 2006 at New York.

Wilkerson greeted Aardsma with a triple to right field, scoring Overbay to make it 8-0.

  1. It would have been nice if Beckett had actually come into ST in shape and ready to help this team from day one. Instead he was a fat bloated load who has hurt the team more than he has helped. Thanks Josh.
