Fast start ... for Jays

Well, we've got trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with B and that stands for Beckett. The Sox righthander threw 36 pitches in the first inning, giving up five hits and six runs. With the bases loaded and one out, Adam Lind knocked in Marco Scutaro (single) with a single to left field, and Alex Rios scored on an error by Jason Bay in left. After Beckett his Rob Barajas with a pitch to load the bases again, Lyle Overbay singled to right, scoring Vernon Wells (walk) and Lind. Brad Wilkerson was out on a grounder to short byt John McDonald drove in two more runs with a double to center field. With righthander David Aardsma warming up the bullpen, Beckett got Inglett to ground out to short to end the inning at 6-0.

  1. From bosoxj in Cali, via Waterville Maine; The Sox are in some serious trouble. If Beckett continues to underperform for the rest of the year we may not even make the playoffs. Any dominance against good hitting teams he had last year has gone out the window. This is the worst pitching of his whole carrer. Whats almost worse, is one game we hit 15 or 18 times, then the next game hit none. Inconsistentcy breeds losing. Finally, to leave men on base the way the Sox do sometimes...sickening.
