Food for thought

Is David Ortiz smiling?

Consider these stats on the two players who have hit behind him:

Kevin Youkilis: batting average with men on base: .429
Manny Ramirez: batting average with men on base: .291 (Sox); .478 (Dodgers)

Youkilis hitting in 7+ innings: .390
Ramirez hitting in 7+ innings: .213 (Sox); .357 (Dodgers)

Youkilis OPS (on-base plus slugging): .948
Ramirez OPS: .786 (Sox); .899 (Dodgers)

  1. This goes to prove that Manny wasn't playing to his ability with us. He was just sluffing it off and relying on everyone to just say Manny is just being Manny. He was dishonest with us and good riddence.

  1. So are these season long starts or since the trade? We need context, those could be after the last couple days.

The red sox always look great against crap teams...lets see the offense against the yankees or the Angels.

  1. I can't decide which is more striking: the similarity between the Youk/Manny numbers or the difference between Manny's Sox stats and Dodgers stats...

  1. Barbara--I'm glad Manny's gone and Bay's a great fit, but Manny's OPS for the Sox was .926, not .786. (Your Dodger OPS number is way off too.)

  1. Manny is GONE! GIVE IT UP!!! Why do you reporters and warped fans still care so much???

  1. We care, dude, because we hate it when somebody with that kind of talent was slacking off, which is putting it politely, for about $20M/year.
