Ice-K

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 19, 2008 08:44 PM

BALTIMORE - Daisuke Matsuzaka has ice water in his veins.

He can stand up there on the hill after loading the bases. Again and again he wiggles out of the worst of jams. With the bases loaded in the fourth inning in another painfully slow performance, he struck out Melvin Mora on a pitch in the dirt after he'd gone 3-1 on him. He fell behind 2-0, got to 2-1 and then popped up Aubrey Huff.

Opponents are now 0-for-14 vs. Dice-K with the bases loaded. Amazing.

The Sox still lead this one, 3-2.
