Sox right fielder J.D. Drew left the game after the third inning with tightness in his lower back. He was replaced by Jeff Bailey.

That didn't stop the Jays, either. Lind collected third RBI of the game, doubling off the wall in center to score Rios (double) and make it 9-0. With Well (walk), Lind, and Overbay (walk) aboard, and two out, righthander Mike Timlin came in to relieve Aardsma.

Aardsma's line: 1 1/3 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts.

Timlin got Wilkerson to ground out to second baseman Dustin Pedroia.

  1. I just don't see this Red Sox team getting hot and putting on a good stretch run.
Inconsistency seems to be the rule.

And Veritek, I don't even know what to say. It is actually sad to watch him at the
    plate.

  1. Don't re-sign Varitek.
I don't care about that "he calls a great game " nonsense.
All catchers have a matrix of where to pitch each batter and what kinds of pitches he can't hit etc. They even show that matrix on the TV when a batter gets up.
He can't hit. Can't run, can't throw out runners anymore.
They need to find a catcher soon.

  1. Beckett is hurt, we need to shut him down before something really bad happens. It's the Angels year anyway.

  1. I feel so bad for Jason too! Think about it, contract year, no production at the plate and going through a divorce. It can't be easy to be him right now.
But I have to wonder, why doesn't Tito tell him to scrub switch hitting right now. He always hits for better average from the right side and we have lefties in the lineup.
    Just a thought.

  1. Tightness in his lower back, yeah right! Francona emptied out the bench today, just decided they weren't even going to try to win. What a disgrace!

  1. Tek should just bat right handed and stop this switch hitting fantasy.
