New York media bashing

Posted by Michael Vega, Globe Staff August 27, 2008 05:49 PM

NEW YORK --- Well, it seems even the New York media Wednesday was subject to the vitriol Alex Rodriguez experienced in Tuesday night' s 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.

In what marked the last Boston-New York media baseball game ever played at Yankee Stadium, Boston's "Knights of the Keyboards'' did the Hub's Fourth Estate proud when they rallied -- a la the Sox in the 2004 ALCS here versus the Yankees -- from deficits of 4-0 after the first inning and 7-1 in the fifth to score eight runs in the last four frames to pull out an 8-7 victory over Gotham's Ink-stained Wretches.

So wretched was the play of the NY media, it prompted one leather-lunged Yankees fan, who was touring Yankee Stadium's open-air press box, to yell down to the field, "New York media, you SUUUUCK!''

Nice. What a way to close out the building.
