Not that it matters ...

Posted by Julian Benbow, Globe Staff August 29, 2008 08:04 PM

… but Jason Bay just struck out swinging with two outs and Dustin Pedroia on second.

He’s a .234 with 16 RBI with runners in scoring position and two outs.

His predecessor, who shall remain nameless, is a .286 hitter with 22 RBIs in the same situation .

Just saying, in case you need to use it in an sports talk radio show argument.

Boston was quiet in the third.

  1. both Bay and Youk are just terrible in clutch situations. They seem totally afraid, and they just choke big time almost every time. Our 4-5 situation is desperate.

  1. Thanks Julian for providing updates during the game... the previous bloggers did not quite grasp that concept!

  1. Low freakin' blow. Not necessary. Not fair. Bay isn't Manny and we knew that when we got him. We got him because he is steady, produces above average, and plays hard. What ya see is what ya get. Welcome Mr. Bay. We know you'll give your all and NOT QUIT ON YOUR FREAKIN' TEAMMATES.

  1. Jay Bay just told you where to stick your cherry picked stats

  1. I believe Jason would like you to retract this statement, if only for tonight.

In seriousness - at least point out what the sample size is. How many more AB's did Manny get to get the 22 RBIs? If you're going to use stats, don't be lazy about it. Don't want to get the FJM treatment.

  1. Was that Bay who just cleared the bases with a 2-out double? Uh, what's Manny doing with LA's seven game losing streak?

    Just saying...

  1. Amazing...normally don't comment on game blogs, but this is bush. Perhaps you should note Bay has more RBI's than Manny since the trade and what his average is since July 29 with RISP. Understanmd you really like Manny, but Bay is quality and CLUTCH. Would be nice if you are fair to the guy...Sox are lucky to have him at this time. BTW...he has drove in 9 runs this week as of Saturday morning. Think that makes 26 HR's and 91 RBI"s total. And one little tiny bit of information....the Sox are winning and Bay is a big part of that. Manny would have killed this team off.

  1. Does it matter? LA has lost 8 in a row.
