O-Bay!

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 18, 2008 09:10 PM

BALTIMORE - A two-run homer by Jason Bay in the 8th has given the Sox a 4-1 lead.

That also spelled the end for Jon Lester, who did not come out for the 8th inning. Manny Delcarmen was on.

Bay has hit two homers and now has 25 on the season. He's driven in 33 runs in his last 32 games.

Kevin Millar booted David Ortiz' grounder to first to put Big Papi on base. After Kevin Youkilis struck out, Bay struck with a drive to right-center.

The Sox re-loaded the bases - a pair of walks to Jed Lowrie and Coco Crisp, a bloop single to left by Sean Casey all coming against Cherry. After the Crisp walk, that was all for Cherry, Lefty sidearmer Alberto Castillo came on to face Jacoby Ellsbury, who hit a broken-bat grounder to second base for the final out.
