Pedroia gets day off
KANSAS CITY - Smack in the middle of a 26-game road hitting streak, Dustin Pedroia has been given the day off. Alex Cora starts at second base.
Terry Francona said he debated on this one, but Pedroia needs a day off as much as any Sox player. Even Pedroia, who normally hates to have a day off said, "I think Terry picked a good time for it. With the day off tomorrow, it's a good day to just rest my body a little bit."
"I had to fight myself to do it," said Francona. "He 's playing great right now, so we really didn't want to do it. But it's the right thing to do."
Fairly quiet otherwise.
The Sox have made an offer to free-agent pitcher Joe Borowski, but there's competition for him. One team interested might be the Mets, who have Billy Wagner on the DL. Scouts who have watched Borowski throw recently, however, don't believe he's major league ready and would need some Triple-A time.

What about our hitting coach??? The present one does not seem to be earning his pay--- time to get someone else in there--averaging around 4 runs a game isn't going to get it done, Maybe a trade to get rid of Julio??? I really like this Lowrie guy and the Sox could probably pick up some pitching help by dealing Lugo
