Pied Papi

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz surprised newly acquired Jason Bay with a pie to the face following Tuesday night's 8-2 triumph over the Kansas City Royals. Follow the jump to check out the NESN video, then check out the video at the top of today's Red Sox notebook which has Big Papi talking about his sneak attack in the dugout.

  1. Um, this video was about 52 seconds too long but I didn't catch this on tv so this was cool. Bay didn't seem pleased. Either that or he's just a cool customer.

  1. Its a breath of fresh air to see even a modest even such as this in the dugout again. They really need papi to be Papi no matter what role he plays on or of the field. Good to see...

  1. Geez. It doesn't look like Bay was very receptive to this sort of hazing.

Papi, You have to gauge a player's personality a little better, before you pull a stunt like this. Some guys won't think it's funny, they'll just get ticked off.

Bay does NOT look happy or amused in this video.

  1. Just shows why the Sox can afford to lose Manny, but losing Big Papi would be a catastrophe. Ortiz is a real asset in the clubhouse, and contributes to a loose and happy team.
