Royals tie it

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 4, 2008 09:00 PM

KANSAS CITY - Mark Teahen tied the game at 2 with a single up the middle against Clay Buchholz in the third inning. The Sox had a 2-0 lead in this one. Buchholz allowed a home run to Alex Gordon, his 13th, in the second.

Buchholz could be pitching for a major league job with competition at Pawtucket from a rehabbing Bartolo Colon and knuckleballer Charlie Zink.

The bases are loaded here in the third with one out. Let's see if Buchholz can squirm out of this one.

  1. Think Zink!

The Sox would be the first ballclub in history to have two knuckleballers (right?). Charlie Finley and Bill Veeck live!!

  1. Buchholz needs to be traded as long as he has any value. He should have been shipped by now.c

  1. Clay's pitching has been inexcusable. Francona, Epstein, et al CANNOT continue to send him out there against inferior teams and come away with losses during the pennant race.
