Shaughnessy: Last trip to Yankee Stadium
The Globe's Dan Shaughnessy believes this week's Red Sox-Yankees series (Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m., Thursday at 1 p.m.) will be the Sox' last trip to Yankee Stadium, meaning he's predicting the Bombers will miss the playoffs for the first time in 14 seasons. kiss of death....
not OK to take 1 ; need a sweep, 2/3 at worst
You guys in the media are getting too cocky! A New York sweep will have them back in the race and you media roosters panicking.
You realize that CHB is a Yankee Lover and could quite possibly mean that the Sox miss the playoffs?
It is a great story Dan And I want to let you know I think the Red sox will do well in new York this time. I am going to be there on Thursday for the game.
Stick a fork in New York
What a DB....and we all know what that means...dont we precious!
How nice would it be if we repeated 2004 and beat them badly in their own house?
What!? Have you learned nothing about jinxes! How dare you make such a prediction! Take it back!

Thanks for the jinx Dan! Now the Yankees will win the Wild Card and the Sox won't make the playoffs!
Ah, fellas, the Thursday game is in the afternoon.
Good riddance. Their amazing record will not follow them next door. They will have to start all over again. We lead them this decade 2-1 in World Series won. And that has got to be killing them. Ha Ha!!
A couple of years ago, Dan predicted the demise of the Yankees as early as June, only to have the Yankees pass the Sox and finish the season in first place. I have stopped listening to the "so called experts" in sports that make erroneous predictions year after year. Why should anyone ever listen sports gurus like Dan, Ordway and others that always peak with such conviction but are seldom correct in their projections. I believe what I see which is a race between three very flawed teams; the Red Sox, Rays, and Yankees. Whatever team gets hot in September will probably win the division and the other two will probably lose out in the wild card race to Chicago or Minnesota.
Thanks Dan, you've officially guaranteed that the sox will get swept the next 3 in Yankee Stadium and just like that they are back in the wildcard race 2 back! Why is it we seem to face these guys in the stretch run when they get guys back and we look like a mash unit? We need to go 20-12 the rest of the way, I'm not optimistic given our pitching situation
Dear Dan
What I do not understand is why they are playing the series at yankee stadium this week. Especially since the yankees are comming to Boston on the final weekend of the season .
I think it would have been more entertaining and more suitable to close yankee stadium with the redsox in town on the final weekend of the season and have the yankees play at fenway this week specially since the redsox opened yankee
stadium in 1921
I just think it was a golden opportunity that was misssed by whom ever had a hand in making up the 2008 schedual it would have been a great story line / bookend for yankee stadium
Much as I hope that Dan has it right re the Yankees' chances, the history of Yankee-Red Sox engagements post-all-star break has historically always tilted overwhelmingly in favor of NY. Much as I hate to say it, don't be surprised if the Yankees win most--if not all--of the season's remaining games.
Or the Red Sox wil miss.
Shaughnessy is the biggest jinx that Boston has. How many times in the past years has he decleared the Yankees dead only to rise up and make the playoffs. If history has proved anything, never count out the Yankees.
Yankees Sweep!!!
The Red Sox really put the boots to the Bombers in Yankee Stadium! Could that happen after so many disappointments ? I think not but hope burns eternal. Avoiding a sweep by the Yanks would't be all bad. Go Sox.
