Sox bow to Royals
KANSAS CITY - It's over at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals have won 4-3 win before 24,378.
The Red Sox competed in the 9th and scored a run.
A Coco Crisp single and Dustin Pedroia bloop single started things off with one out. Royals' closer Joakim Soria retired David Ortiz on a ground ball out to first base. Ortiz was shaking his left hand after a foul ball during the at-bat but appeared OK as he shook it off and continued. With two outs, Soria walked Kevin Youkilis intentionally and took his chances with Jason Bay.
Bay dribbled a ball toward shortstop which looked like the third out, but shortstop Tony Pena and third baseman Alex Gordon ran into each other while converging on the ball. Bay was safe and Boston's third run scored. The bases remained loaded but Sean Casey lined out to right field to end the game.

This game was lost by the offense or lack thereof. They can't expect their number 5 hitter to pitch a shutout. I guess its not all Manny's fault. Buchholz was shaky but he settled down and went six.
They need to start hitting when they're on the road, period. If they continue their season-long road slump, the playoffs look like a longshot. It's one thing to knock around teams at the bottom of the barrel (i.e. Seattle) but they need to notch some wins against contending teams and be able to hit good pitching.
