Sox eyeing a sweep

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 20, 2008 07:31 PM

BALTIMORE - The Sox are eyeing a sweep here tonight and so far they are well on their way.

They have a 2-0 lead over Baltimore in the second inning. Dustin Pedroia tripled and scored on Kevin Youkilis's single through the shortstop hole. It's amazing how far Youkilis has come in one season. After his 117th game last year he was hitting .288 with 12 homers and 63 RBIs and the fade had begun. No fade quite yet in sight.

Jason Bay knocked in a run with a single.

All of the runs came off O's starter Chris Walters, a lefty. The Orioles' pitching has been horrendous in this series.

  1. It doesn't seem like the horrendous label should be applied to Guthrie in the first game though. Two runs off solo homers in seven innings isn't horrendous.
