Sox team meeting at 3:30; Bay hitting 5th, Lowell 4th

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff August 1, 2008 03:16 PM

The Red Sox clubhouse will be closed at 3:30 p.m. for a team meeting, after which (scheduled for 3:45 p.m.) Theo Epstein and Terry Francona will hold a press conference. We’re anticipating an official announcement of the trade for Jason Bay, who is scheduled to meet the media after Tito and Theo.

Oh, and Mike Lowell is hitting in the cleanup spot tonight, with Bay hitting behind him at No. 5.

  1. Typical Peter Gammons below-the-belt crap!

He takes a cheap shot at unions and raises the specter of steroid use among baseball players in an article about Manny. What's the connection? Is Gammons suggesting Manny was a user, or too stupid or scared to be a user?

Apparently that medical problem Gammons had some time back had more lasting effects than we realized.
