The 'bag is back!

Posted by David Lefort, Boston.com Staff August 29, 2008 11:40 AM

After a long haitus, the weekly Red Sox mailbag has returned to Boston.com. Globe Red Sox beat writer Amalie Benjamin has taken the reins and will check in each week to answer your questions. Click here to pose a question for consideration in Amalie's next 'bag.

Some of the topics covered in this week's mailbag ...

  • What are the odds Jason Varitek will be in a Red Sox uniform next season?
  • We know a knuckleball is hard to catch, but is it also more difficult for an umpire to judge whether it's a ball or strike?
  • Has Jed Lowrie permanently replaced Julio Lugo as the starting Red Sox shortstop, even when Lugo comes off the DL?
  • Can we expect contributions from Bartolo Colon before the end of the season?

  1. What is Jason Bay's contract for next season worth?? And what are the chances the Sox might package him in a deal for Matt Holliday from Colorado??

  1. Dominic- it's worth 7 mill for the 2009 season after that he is a free agent. There isn't a CHANCE they package him to Colorado for Holliday, so forget about it!
