Wells red hot

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 24, 2008 01:23 PM

TORONTO - Vernon Wells is feasting on Boston pitching.

In the bottom of the first against Daisuke Matsuzaka, he stroked a home run to left field with Marco Scutaro aboard. It's 2-0 Jays.

The roof is closed at Rogers Centre today in anticipation of rain. A.J. Burnett, who has a 4-0, 1.98 career mark against the Sox, retired the side in order in the first, striking out two.

If you're wondering about Sean Casey's whereabouts, he's been dealing with a stiff neck for the last couple of days.
