White Sox hold slim lead

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 8, 2008 09:12 PM

CHICAGO - On this great day in Chicago baseball, the Red Sox trail the White Sox 1-0 in the fifth inning. Earlier today the Cubs beat the Cardinals in a great game, 3-2 in11 innings on a pristine day at Wrigley Field.

Tonight, Jon Lester and Mark Buerhle have engaged in a very good pitchers duel. The White Sox scored the only run in the the third inning when No. 9 hitter Juan Uribe singled, went to third on Orlando Cabrera's single and scored on A.J. Pierzynski's sacrifice fly.

  1. The Cubs and White Sox play at home at the same time? Isn't that unusual? In New York, when the Mets are home the Yanks are on the road, unless they play each other. No?
