ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jason Bay has headed back to Boston to join his wife, Kristen, who is due to give birth imminently. Bay is likely to rejoin the Sox Friday in Toronto.

Meanwhile, J.D. Drew (back) has rejoined the club here in St. Petersburg, though there is no timetable on his return to the lineup. Drew's condition has improved, manager Terry Francona said.

  1. Nice to see the RedSox treat their players with class when it comes to these types of situations. Family should be front and center and the fact that he gets to leave the team to attend his childs birth is awesome(even though they are battling for first). Hurry back Jason, you'll be missed but congratulations as well!!

  1. New rule. Please limit babymaking to the months of March and April to ensure arrival doesn't occur during a pennant race lol
