Bay leaves the yard

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 7, 2008 05:05 PM

Jason Bay had smoked three deep flies this series, two today, and all of them had died at the warning track. He just broke through, crushing a 1-0 Jamey Wright offering 366 feet to the opposite field for a solo shot. The ball has carried extremely well to the right field portion of the park this weekend.

Now that Bay connected, everyone in the Red Sox lineup has a hit, and only David Ortiz has two. Sox lead, 7-0 after 6 1/2.
