Byrd in trouble
Bad pitches and big hits apparently keep Paul Byrd up at night.
He'll lose a couple winks over his 0-1 pitch to Travis Snider.
Rob Barajas already hit him hard of the base off the wall for a single and Scott Rolen had added another single to left, then Snider smacked an 85-mph fastball deep to right that had Jacoby Ellsbury back-pedaling until he ran out of space.
The three-run shot gave the Jays a 5-0 lead, and put the Sox in a tight spot after five innings.
The Sox are still struggling to string something together. Jason Varitek struck out staring at a pitch that he thought was outside, and Coco Crisp flew out lazily to right.
Jacoby Ellsbury kept things alive with a rolling single to right field, and tried to spark something with his 47th steal of the season (putting him in sole possession of first in the AL steals category), but after Dustin Pedroia drew his second walk of the afternoon, David Ortiz lined out to center.
Ortiz smacked the ball hard, but he left his fourth and fifth runners stranded.
Jays 5, Sox 0 in the top of the sixth, and Byrd just got the hook in favor of right-hander David Aardsma
Meet the Globe's Red Sox team (left to right): Nick Cafardo, Amalie
Benjamin, Adam Kilgore and Tony Massarotti

Will Jacoby get 8 more steals this year to set the Red Sox record set my Tommy Harper?
I thought that your headline predicted a Sox sweep.
