A new lineup of Sox songs
Local songwriter Desmond Reed wrote 10 pretty catchy songs about the 2008 Red Sox. Each song is about a different player and the order of the songs corresponds (roughly) with the order of the 2008 Sox lineup.
Have a listen by clicking on the name of each player in the lineup after the jump:

Sorry but I think most of them are kind of lame
OMG. Those really suck!
Haha these were great! I liked the Mike Lowell one the best!
wow this is some terrible stuff.
I am as big a RedSox supporter as there is....but this is not worthy of being on boston.com
I would rather take my life than listen to that garbage for one more second.
it's times like this that make me embarassed to be a Red Sox fan.
I'd like to see a song about Crisp rather than Lugo.
This is great! Love the lyrics and the tune. What about making another one with all the other players including the pitchers? Thanks, Desmond Reed.
Are you guys crazy!!! These are AWESOME!!!
Its so fantastic to see someone expressing their love for the our great team in such a creative way! This made my day!
that's great man!
I hope that those songs are born and die right here on this blog. If I ever am watching a game and NESN plays anyone of those songs I am going to punch the nearest person right in the throat.
What about Coco.... Who needs a song about Lugo???
These are catchy, fun little songs by a obviously a big fan. Good job! I think it's hilarious that some people are taking them so seriously...!!
C'mon people, stop hating. Yeah, it's a little...ummm, goofy...to say the least. And, yes, Coco ABSOLUTELY deserves a song over Lugo. But seriously, what's wrong with a little fun, it put a smile on my face...and let's see some Yankee renditions...
He cheats on his wife
He has no outside life
What's not to hate about...A-ROD!
He chokes when it really matters
White gloves weren't meant for batters
What's not to hate about...A-ROD!
Slow day at the office Steve. Those are TERRIBLE !!
These are brilliant and catchy, Reed!!! Especially love the Mike Lowell, Jason Bay and Varitek #s! Can't stop replaying! ... Help me ...
Where is gordon edes when you need him? This is what is passing for red sox news these days?? Ughh!
-Most of these songs are all horrible except for one - which happens to be pretty damn good (the Jason Bay song).
-Cheap song writing trick to sing every word of a song monotone on Ellsbury song.
-Dustin's song is fair.
-Papi's song is painful! More monotone verses ... how about a melody???
-Youk's song is really bad ... might be improved with a shortened chorus (2 "Yoooookilis' versus 4)
-Lowell's song is boring.
-Drew's song is another painful one.
- Lowrie's song is embarrassing ... how long did it take to write - 3 minutes?
Listened to them all a second time and Dustin's is the only one that got an upgrade ... and Bay's song, the second time....was too short!!!
If some guys were singing these on the street, I doubt anybody would drop money into their bucket !!
The Jason Bay song has a shot at getting airplay.
These are AWESOME! Thanks!!!
Those who are hatin' on these songs are just miserable people because what's not to like if your a true BoSox fan?... The songs are awesome!!!
You guys are crazy! I love these, especially Bay and Lowell. Good job Desmond Reed! Keep 'em coming!
How much did he pay you for the plug? These are AWFUL!
Obviously the composer is a baseball fan (check out the linked YouTube video with another baseball reference). I think each song is a little masterpiece - very fun, good spirited, and catchy! You can't resist visualizing the player while each song is playing - brilliant idea!
Ahhh, these are totally goofy, stupid, but put a smile on my face. Love em.
Terrible, Just Terrible, I want those 5 mins of my life back
Hey folks, they have 18 comments and counting, which is why it is on this blog. You don't like it, don't click and don't comment. Vote with your mouse to direct coverage. I think it's inane, but what does it hurt?
An artist on the SPORTS page? (Confusing to the natives.) Awesome awesome ditties! Made my day! MORE.
Amusing stuff. Nice work Desmond Reed. It can't be easy writing a song about each player in the line-up. I like the Jason Bay song best and got a chuckle out of the Lugo song.
Thinkin outside the Sweet Caroline. Thank you! Desmond Reed '08.
What's not to like about the "Mike Lowell" song?
I'm envious of Beethoven being both dead and deaf after listening to that. Those are worse than Starland Vocal Band doing those Dunkin' Donut commercials....KARAAAAAATTEEEEEEEEEEE.
These songs make me feel... happy! I love them & the Red Sox! Can someone please play these at the next Sox game? Great job Desmond! Don't stop!
I'm sure glad I stepped right over the sour-grapes posts and had myself a listen. And a listen. And a listen. And a ....
Desmond! You're my hero! I love these songs! Good job!
These are great! I love the Bay & Lowell songs the most. Great job Desmond, keep 'em coming. Doesn't anyone realize that the Lugo song is probably supposed to be funny?
See you on letterman, kiddo!
God Awful!
I'd take Sweet Caroline any day--even though its kind of lame at least its catchy and its so much part of the fan base.
OMG Those are awfull. DOnt know what was worse... The words or the singing....
Sounds like somthing a 5th grader would come up with. I say burn them now before more people have to suffer thru them
QUIT IT! That's the lamest thing yet!!
This is, without a doubt, embarrassing to Red Sox fans everywhere.
About one (small) step above the Cowsills performance in game 3 of the 2004 ALCS......
Pretty Amazing to me, I am enjoying the ignorant comments, just don't listen if you hate it! DON'T LAUGH AT IT!! Good job Desmond
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..ITS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL
LINGER LONGERRRR!!
Sorry but those are pretty awful.
This guy knows two chords and has the vocal range of a groundhog.
Wait, I think my groundhog sings better.
If anyone can come up with anything better, more catchy, let's hear it. It's quite easy to say something is awful.
Come on peeps! lighten up!
To the basher who keeps on re-posting: Maybe you should not attempt to pose as a music critic while you're still hooked on phonics.
Who honestly owns a groundhog? Come on now!
Fortunately, I was paid to listen to those. I'd never do it on my own time. Ugh.
Embarrasing. I almost long for the days before the world series in 2004 when we weren't subject to all this nonsense, RSN membership cards, pink hats, stupid songs, CDs by japanese pitchers, dating games at Fenway etc....oh and affordable ticket prices. I guess this is the price for success now :(
This sounds like Barney and the Monkeys got into a car crash. Absolutely Awful.
And why is there a song about JD Drew? I haven't seen that guy in 4 weeks......Did he get traded....Oh wait, he's just sore from getting his flu shot, I forgot. Got our money's worth there.
The basement tape recordings of these tunes are going to be worth a fortune.
oh my god these are horrible. this would be disgracing the red sox organization and red sox nation if any of these songs are ever played within 100 miles of any massachusetts state border.
The "look at him go" lyrics for the Jacoby Ellsbury song actually provided a perfect soundtrack as I ran towards the window which the song initially made me want to jump through. This made me stop. So that song nearly took my life and then saved it in just a matter of moments. It's powerful stuff. Kudos to Desmond Reed.
Wow, this is the lamest thing possible. This dude must be hurting for money or something to create something so awful.
See, here in St. Pete, we don't need a song for each of our guys' egos; we let our bats and our defense do the singing, if you will. Just ask Navi about both last night and last week, when, in the 14th inning, he brought home the game-winning run (in case your selective memories forgot that like the 86 years you were w/out a ring...the RSN "members" here tend to forget that and get upset when reminded, though I'm sure it's better in Boston...hopefully). No, not a bandwaggoner (fan for a few years), so none of that talk. Just sayin'...
the Lugo song is depressing.........which is perfect for his career with the red sox.
I think I'm going to be sick
Ok these are horrible! If I could pull out my ears at this moment I would. If these songs were played during the game, no one would go. Maybe it's a secret ploy to empty Fenway park hmm...
Seriously though, sounds like a mix between the Dunkin Donuts commercial and the Freecreditreport.com commmercial. Both of which I hate and would love to punch the person that made them. NEVER should they've been released to the public
what i got after listening to those songs defines the term, "douche chills"
Nice one, Desmond! These fun songs almost make me come a bit closer to enjoying the mind-numbingly dull sport of baseball...
These suck.
If there is a god, then he will have his vocal chords forcibly removed.
Made me smile! The music is certainly a lot more interesting and creative than most of the comments here. Geez. Hey, haters, take a suppository and loosen-up for cripes sakes.
For cryin' out loud. Lighten up, guys. He's not gunning for a grammy here. It's good fun, and I enjoyed the whole lineup thoroughly. Great work, Desmond! The Lowell, Bay, and Varitek songs especially made me smile (and after tonight's game, I needed that)!
baseball is fun, and that's all this is. atleast he's a sox fan enjoying it and not being a douche.
Keep Sweet Caroline!
These are HORRIBLE and they might actually people hate going to Fenway if this is what they are going to hear
WTF??? I got half way through the 1st song and can't listen anymore!
“He’s leading the league in stolen bases, he’s been to the future, he’s been to the past…” Aghhhh this song sucks ass!
This is D grade material for the freakin Whiner Line for crying out loud.
Please tell me this Desmond Reed guy doesn't get paid to do this. Absolutely horrible! I've made better sounds from the porcelain throne.
These are SOOO BAD!!! UGH!!
These songs are cutting-edge but feel-good. I totally get it, love it! SOX4EVER
Jason Bay's song was the best. Jacoby's is second best...
Perfect songs for kids to sing...
To the person saying that they wouldn't want to hear these songs play at Fenway Park. I just wanted to say do you go to the ballpark just to hear the particular crap they already have playing at these games? Who the heck decides which music to play at these stadiums. A lot of the crap there is certainly ridiculous. And to hear that you tolerate the crap that is already being played there at the stadium but you wouldn't tolerate these particular songs it just sounds ridiculous.
most of them are good. ortiz's is horrible. lowell's is the best
I really don't like the ortiz one but Lowrie's and Jacoby's are soo funny. Obviously these songs aren't serious, but they're funny as anything. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that either.
Mike Lowell is awesome hehehehehe I love this!
why you all gotta be so mean? I know hes no ACDC or whatever you fogeys like :)
Desmond Reed is sooooooo creative. These jingles are inspired!
I'm only 15 but, I absolutely love these these little tunes!
Speaking of whcih;I wonder if I can buy them off iTunes.....???
totally dig the Jason Bay tune... they are all completely silly... but how else will we make it to spring training?
Really clever and fun. You haters just wish you'd thought of them first.
Lugo song is sooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid can't you do it better than that. I like other ones. My favorite is lowells
Lame......especially Lugo
I think if you love the Red Sox enough to write 10 songs about them more power to you! I dont think he'll get a Gramy but I like them.
These are amazing! I would have never thought of this. They are so creative and funny. If you love the Red Sox enough to write 10 songs about them more power to you! Keep them coming.
Desmond! You've done it again! KUDOS!
Pay no attention to those commentors behind the curtain. They are all just jealous that they'rre not going home to Kansas!
these are so bad. If I hear someone even mum these tunes I will most definately choke them.
