Pregame notes

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 16, 2008 07:08 PM

A few quick notes before we get the game updates rolling:

-- J.D. Drew is back with the team and "very hopeful" he will return this weekend against Toronto. His injury is "tricky," he said -- one hour, he'll be swinging and running and feel fine; the next, he'll bend over to tie his shoe and his back will tighten.

-- Bartolo Colon will throw a side session tomorrow, and will likely become a reliever. Colon has no real relief experience. He has three appearances out of the bullpen, one last year and two as a rookie in 1997.

Stay tuned. First pitch is moments away. We'll have updates all game long.
