Rain updates...

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff September 26, 2008 03:09 PM

...actually, there are no updates.

We still haven't heard anything about whether this game will be played, but it's looking mighty grim around Fenway Park. It's pouring, and the tarp remains on the field. The entire outfield is soggy or, as colleague Adam Kilgore just said, "It looks like a moat in front of the Green Monster."

That can't be good for anyone's health.

So I wouldn't make any long drives down to Fenway tonight, but there are also no promises yet that they won't try to get this game in. We'll let you know as soon as we do.

  1. This decision should be made by the second most corrupt and inept organization - the City of Boston. Red Sox mgmt and their greed is a disgrace.

  1. It's ridiculous that they haven't called this yet; clearly, the game isn't going to be played ... but they know that there's money to be made off of the poor slobs who decide the shlep down there in the rain only to be told to go home after they've lightened their wallets at the concession stands, parking lots and local bars.

  1. What is wrong with the Red Sox? We know they will not risk injuries on a wet field headed into the plaoffs, so if they do open the gates it will only be to sell $8 beers. Such a shame. The decision is a no-brainer. Call it now.
