Red Sox take the lead

Posted by Nancy Marrapese-Burrell, Globe Staff September 2, 2008 08:03 PM

In the bottom of the third inning, the Red Sox rallied for four runs. The first two came as a result of a bases-loaded double off the left field wall by David Ortiz with one out. With men on second and third with Dustin Pedroia up, Pedroia's sacrifice fly scored Jed Lowrie for the second out. Ortiz scored on Mark Kotsay's double to make it 4-0.
