Schilling blasts Manny
Injured Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling threw some high heat at former teammate Manny Ramirez this afternoon on sports radio WEEI's "The Big Show," saying the slugger's "level of disrespect to teammates and people was unfathomable."
"The guy got to dress in a locker away from the team for seven years," said Schilling, talking via telephone with Glenn Ordway and former Sox players Lou Merloni and Brian Daubach. "And then [when] he's on this crusade to get out of here, all of a sudden he's in the locker room every day, voicing his displeasure without even having to play the game that night."
Schilling said Ramirez's antics particularly weighed on manager Terry Francona.
"Nothing makes a guy that respects the game and respects human beings like Terry Francona feel worse than looking at a guy and saying, 'Go ahead, [mess] with me, [mess] with your teammates, I'll put you in the lineup,' and then turn around to a guy whose there every day early working his [butt] off who gets 110 at-bats a year and saying, "You know what? Yeah, I can't put you in there tonight," Schilling said. "There were times when you had players who were on like fire duty, 'Show up tomorrow, I'm not sure if you're playing or not, we've gotta find out what [Manny] wants to do.' That's not fair to anybody."
Other comments from Schilling:
On whether David Ortiz was frustrated with Ramirez (Ordway noted that he appeared to be shortly before the trade): "What you guys hear and see is generally 10 to 20 percent of what exists."
On why he is speaking out now: "The thing about it for me, is, I haven't thrown a freakin' pitch all year, I've been the biggest waste of space, I've been robbing payroll for the entire season, no one feels worse about not contributing than me . . . I'm the last person in the world who should be telling you who's right and who's wrong in this. But I was a teammate, a member of this family, and I saw it, and it's no different than what Lou [Merloni] and Brian [Daubach] saw. And to me, it was always those guys, the guys who played a crucial role on teams that weren't the marquee players, are the ones that were disrespected the most, because if any of those players ever acted or did or said anything. [Speaking to Merloni:] Lou, you're in Seattle, and if you refused to get on a team plane, you know what they'd do? They'd give you an Air France ticket home."
On whether teammates are upset Ramirez is doing so well with the Dodgers "I don't know about [ticked] . . . as an everyday player, with what you have to go through mentally, getting ready to play, you don't spend a lot of energy worrying about stuff like that. I wouldn't say [ticked], I'd probably say disappointed more than anything. Because the one thing about Manny is that he was . . . he was very kind, and well-mannered, but there were spurts and times when you didn't know who he was. You know, he was always kind and nice for the most part, but he'd show up the next day and say, 'I'm through with this team, I want out now.'
Perhaps the most damning quote about Ramirez during the interview came from Merloni:
"When all this stuff was going down with Manny, I remember walking in the clubhouse talking to a couple of guys, and I got one response that just threw me for a loop, and I said, 'Guys, how bad is it?' I knew it was bad, and I just said, 'How bad is it?' And all I heard, what they told me, was, 'Carl Everett.' And I lived that nightmare. . . and when I heard that, I said, 'OK, I know exactly what's going on, I can't believe it got that bad.' "

OK... here we go. Schilling haters will blast away! (How many comments about his payroll this year, when the guy took a DISCOUNT to come back here at a very fair $8 million salary... what are Smoltz, Glavine, Pedro, et. al. making this year??? Did any of them win playoff and World Series starts last year?).
The same guys will discount this and say Manny got blasted only by the front office and media.
The most telling thing is this: You guys only know 10 to 20 percent of what goes on. Schilling should be praised for being honest and straight forward. Think of how Steroids would be GONE from the game if every clean guy said, From now on, I tell everyone I know, everything I know.
Don't give me this "stays in the locker room" stuff. If it's the truth, it's the truth. These are baseball players not CIA agents.
Editors of reporters should post THAT Schil quote on their bulliten board and remind them to do their job, not give us clicehe's and press releases.
Way to go Schill!
"I remember walking in the clubhouse talking to a couple of guys, and I got one response that just threw me for a loop, and I said, 'Guys, how bad is it?' I knew it was bad, and I just said, 'How bad is it?' And all I heard, what they told me, was, 'Carl Everett.' And I lived that nightmare. ." -Lou Merloni
I guess he just threw Tek and Wakefield under the bus because they are the only current players on the team that were there when Everett was in 00 and 01.
Shut up you fat inactive blowhard
I was really upset when the Sox traded Manny. I thought the player they go in return was a Joke. Manny is such a break bat in the line up, their's no way the Sox can replace that. With that said, to see this magical production with the Dodgers proves how wrong I was about Manny. He and Scott Boras should be banned from the game for what they've done. I really didn't believe that Manny had quit on the sox. Man, was I wrong. Seeing what he's doing really angers me beyond belief. You can hate Schill, what ever. Manny deserves all the bashing he gets. MLB really needs to address what Boras is telling his clients to do.
West Coast is right. Why isn't baseball looking into this sham that Boras and Manny pulled? His swing looked slower, his inattention in burst and fits lead us to think he was getting old. He was only interested in the big contract and ruined his reputation in Boston.
Every writer who cares about the integrity of the game should protest voting for Manny in the hall of fame for the first two years he is elligible in protest for the the thanking he's done since the end of '06.
Schilling shut the f**k up!
Who is Shilling fooling?
"I lived that nightmare"? What? Long distance in Arizona? Jurassic Carl was long gone by the time Schilling got to Boston.
Dan that was Merloni who said "I lived that nightmare", not Schill.
Dan: Schilling didn't say that "nightmare" quote, Merloni did.
Dan - I'm pretty sure that quote was from Lou.
Dan - the "Nightmare" quote came from Merloni, not Schilling...
unrelated, this is exactly the kind of stuff that needs to come out to help explain to all the "We needed Manny's bat in the lineup" crowd that we were not going to get that... It's not a fantasy league; there are personalities involved. Manny was not going to produce near the numbers he's putting up in LA if he had stayed here.
That's what all the Manny lovers need to understand.
yea Shaughnessy lay off of Shil already, and get your facts straight to
IF some opened thier eyes and remember how manny played(?) at the end...
BOTH at bat and in the field - - - - - it was trashy at best, the "powers that
be" in MLB should do something about it....... both to manny and his agent
TO ME it is just as bad as someone yelling FIRE in a movie house..........
BOTH need a HARD lesson and a 'swift kick' OUT of baseball for a year.
One more item > IF I have 'upsetted' any of you out there - WELL-GUESS
WHAT - 2 2 BAD because the the TRUTH IS THE TRUTH............
Little baby manny is $^&**^%@!@%(*&^%R^$$# + =

A L O N G TIME Sox fan
Jay... Schilling gets paid to talk to those guys. It's not like he calls them up and says, "hey guys... I just had a thought about Manny. What an idiot!"
That you don't get that is really astounding.
Has any athlete (former) ever been more critical of other people than this jerk? Please just go away Schilling, you uneducated, arrogant oaf. And take your equally starved for publicity wife with you.
Oh and thanks for campaigning for George W Bush in 2004, nice work chubby.
MLB Did look into it, they stated 2 days after the deal they would investigate it, but what can you really do, the Sox could have held onto him and just benched him if they wanted, but they chose to trade him, how can MLB compensate him. Now had they decided to keep him, and Manny just stopped showing then they could do something, but there isnt much they can do about this. Take Randy Moss for example, is there any doubt he was half assing it in Oakland to get out of there?
Scott, he's only paid for his appearances on Dennis & Callahan. The rest of the time he calls in he's another blowhard from the Fellowship of the Miserable. Also, Curt wanted $13 million to play in 2008, but the Sox didn't want him back. They offered him $8 million thinking he wouldn't accept but he did. The best thing about when this season ends is that Curt "Red-light" Schilling will be back in Arizona. That is if he ever sells Drew Bledsoe’s old house.
The bottom line is the Red Sox and Pink Hat Nation enabled Manny's antics for 8 years and decided they finally want to cut him loose. Where were Curt's comments in 2004 or 2007 when Manny was carrying them? I'm not a Manny fan by the way and think the whole thing he pulled should have been investigated. Unfortunately, Bud Selig has been in bed with the Red Sox owners from the time the bought the club so there was never going to be an investigation.
Shilling may talk too much but what he says is what everybody else is thinking and he is right on the money. I will never respect Manny Ramirez again. I am gald he is gone. You get paid that much money to perform, you don't dog it or fake it or let you entire team and so called friends down like he did. He is an will always be a traitor to the Red Sox and everyone on his team. You think anyone in the clubhouse has any respect for him ? No way. How would you feel if it happened to you ? He is a piece of crap. Nobody cares how good he can hit when he want to. Good riddance Bennedict Manny.
Dan.. if you paid attention.. the "I lived that nightmare" quote was from Lou Merloni. Shilling has a big mouth - but often as a point.. anyway, Manny was a complete sham. Jason Bay may not have his power.. but Im so glad we are done with Manny's crap.
Let's make it a clean cut with Manny. Let's give the two world Championships the Sox wouldn't have won without him back, too.
Oh, and make sure he's not wearing a Red Sox hat on his Hall of Fame plaque.
Manny who???
Look. If Schill wasn't so forthright about his political affiliation, would all you
Schill haters really care about his "big mouth", or would you be kissing his
rear end for having brought us a championship for the first time in 86 years?
Please , your anti Schill bias is transparent. Either you're a fairweather Sox
fan, a Yankee fan, or a democrat. Otherwise, you would be happy to overlook
the negative in Schill (that we all have in us) and be proud to have had a
player like Schill wear the Sox uniform.
Keep your politics out of baseball. If you can't do that, then try growing up and
just keep your negativity and anger to yourself.
Regarding Manny, well, there's not a lot for me to say, otherwise I'd be a hypocrit
if I voiced my real thoughts on a man who throws his teammates under the bus
when it came to $$$$. I wouldn't be dissappointed if MLB owners decided that
they didn't need his services next year. ( hey, I can dream can't I?)

Ummmm...and how many World Championships would Manny have won without the Sox??? For what it's worth, I couldn't care less what hat he wears on his Hall of Fame plaque - on second thought, how about a Black Sox cap?
Manny's numbers in the 10 games before he was traded were .351/2/8 (.347/4/16 in all of July). Why do people say he dogged it? I don't think Manny should be here, but get your facts straight before you make typical, WEEI-fan, uninformed comments (ahem, Jimmy D). Manny's tearing it up out west because the NL is a LOT inferior. How do you explain the drop in stats when NL players come over here and the rise when AL players go over there (Carlos Delgado resurgence, anyone?) or the W-L disparity in inter-league games? And get over the hypocrisy these athletes spew about Manny. No player cares about their team (not even Schilling who threatened leaving a few years ago). Players will be the first to remind you that this is "a business" while in training camp, in the off-season, before trade deadlines, etc. These players are babies. No single player should make everyone in the clubhouse play like crap (ironically, Manny was playing well though, see FACTUAL stats above). God forbid they faced adversity in the clubhouse like we face daily in the cubicle world... and they make millions! Also, I still think this could have been avoided if we had a captain that actually did something in the clubhouse. Tek wearing that C on his jersey is the epitome of farce, which is what this organization has become since it won the world series in 2004.
Right on Schill. I'm not your biggest fan (you're a Republican after all, who supported a president with a lower IQ than Manny), but I'm GLAD you're sp[eaking up (Whatever happened to that MLB investigation of Manny's leaving btw?). He was a cancer, who's now miraculously cured and hitting .400. He hadn't excelled to this extent in years here. What gives? The unfortunate thing is that the faker has led the Dodgers (a team I used to kinda like, w/ guys Nomar, Lowe and Torre on it, and a history in Brooklyn, where my dad grew up) to an almost certain NL West crown, so we'll have to see the bum in October action. As for all you Manny supporters who keep saying "he's a HOFer who gave us 8 years blah blah blah"-look, he hate Boston, disrespected the team, and will probably try to get enshrined with an Indians or LA hat, so give him up already. Bay's not Manny, true, but the Manchild deserves every bit of verbal abuse he gets. He can fend of pitchers on the field, but I hope Schill and others bean the bum with words.
Why does it seem the Schilling haters are the Bush hating left-wing crowd? Is it because Schill speaks the truth and THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH?? In baseball or politics.
Manny was a POS. He deserves only boos from the stands. Even - no Especially when he hits a home run. The way he marvels at himself is just too much.
It's a real shame that such a good RH hitter is such an AH.
Boy, does Schilling love to hear himself talk. Manny hit .312 for the Red Sox this year. Curt isn't exactly giving back his $8 million for doing nothing.
Schilling is all talk. Remember the steroid hearings? In SI two years before the hearings, he talked big, everybody can tell who's doing steroids, it's rampant in baseball. At the hearings -- in front of a family whose kid had died from doing steroids -- Curt the Mouth clammed up, couldn't say for sure, didn't really know, etc. etc., etc.
I bet he didn't say any of this BS in front of Manny. Who, I will remind you, hit .312 for the Red Sox this year. I wish Jason Varitek would dog it like Manny.
This was great! Thanks, for that, fellas.
The truth is bitter.
Randy Moss is a good comparison, but his permanent character is a bad*ss. That's ok at least he cares about his teammates. Manny didn't necessarily flunk it. He just had an attitude of hatred towards everything Boston. Manny isn't well liked anymore in my opinion and probably will never be. MLB definitely needs to do something.
"Tek wearing that C on his jersey is the epitome of farce, which is what this organization has become since it won the world series in 2004."
What?
Just because the players shouldn't be affected by the clubhouse cancer, doesn't
mean that they aren't affected. Reality is what counts in horseshoes, not shoulda, coulda, woulda. Manny became a cancer and got himself traded because he
could no longer be predictable. Yes he was putting up good numbers, but that
doesn't mean he was playing well or his total effort was consistent with the team's
goals. Big difference. Manny was deliberately making everyone around him uptight.
bitterness only eats up the bitter person, but thank you very much for manny, we love him. we hope to see the sox (or the halos) in the W.S.
......hmmmm.
How many games did Schill play this year?
Schill stole $8 million from the sox and complains about Manny.
No other player in baseball would be classless enough to complain to the media that Schill stole $8 million from the team. Yet after contributing zero to this team, Schill takes out his grief an Manny.
Wow, Schill has got to be the stupidest Red Sox of all time.
I'm sick of Manny su cks
Dear Curt,
On behalf of sports fans the world over let me say this... NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU FEEL ANYMORE... PLEASE GO AWAY.. THANK YOU.
Sincerely,
A Sports Fan
THIS IS A BUSINESS FOLKS!!!.... DONT LET ANY PLAYER, ESPECIALLY SCHILLING, FOOL YOU WHEN THEY SHED ANY CROC' TEARS FOR THEIR CURRENT TEAM.... Schilling himself wanted to leave a few years ago. Schilling is a SNITCH. SCHILLING IS THE BIGGEST SNITCH IN SPORTS HISTORY. HE REPORST EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENDS IN THE CLUB HOUSE. THIS IS GUY IS AMAZING. HE'S A SO CALLED CRISTIAN AND LOOK AT WHAT HE'S DOING... GOSSIPING, SNITCHING, BAD MOUTHING HIS PEERS.... 3 SINS AND THAT'S JUST THE FIRS PART OF THE INTERVIEW.
I'm glad Manny is gone, but I think his increase in production is due to playing in the NL where pitchers are not that familiar with him.
All you Schilling haters, The Sox do not win in 04 without him. He is only doing what you are doing on this forum. So if he is a big mouth blowhard, what does that make you?
You tell 'em Curt.
I love the clowns on here that think the Sox only won in '04 because of Manny... get a grip
Granted, he woke up in the WS, but how about his fabulous '04 ALCS? What about that Manny? Wasn't that the same 0 RBI cleanup hitter - thru 7 games?
Manny was a part of a TEAM that did win 2 championships. One of 25. Thanks for the memories, tool or no tool.
I have no problem with what Schilling said about Manny, however, I do have a problem with him earning that kind of $$ for not playing. He ought to be GIVING AWAY HIS $$ EIGHT MILLION to the Jimmy Fund. I'd also like to hear what the big guy thinks about the present state of the economy (and nation) caused by his beloved administration in Washington.
Manny dogged it in Boston this year and may have cost them the division and WS. I don't care what his stats were, they should have been much better, just like he's doing in LA. Manny sat out games against Seattle and the YANKEES! He wanted to go on the DL. Do you see him having knee problems in LA? He deliberately tanked the season for the Sox and anybody who can't see that is an idiot. Schilling told the truth, like it or not. Manny Ramirez is a disgrace to himself and the game of baseball.
destroia, when you quote Manny's stats the 10 games before he was traded, you mean the 10 games HE ACTUALLY PLAYED before he left. He skipped out on 2 games and told his teamates that he wasn't going to play again for another week until the Sox stepped in and told him that he had to get an MRI on BOTH his knees (because he forgot which one was supposed to be hurting him) and if they came back clean he would have to play or they would suspend him. Miraculously, they came back clean and he has played every single game since then. If you look at this history, Manny always takes at least 3 or 4 games off a month so going 40 in a row now with the Dodgers is some sort of miracle.
I just don't understand the money angle. He was going to get his money either way so why not just play hard? Boras was the one that wasn't going to get any money unless Manny became a free agent. I applaud the guy for getting his clients as much money as possible when they are actually F/A but his dirty stuff he pulls when he has no leverage is really sickening. But that doesn't let off Manny. It was a classless move to end his time with the Sox that way. I just wish they had sent him to Pittsburg so he could languish for the rest of the season instead of becoming some folk hero in LA. I hope they sign him for like 5 years with a no trade clause so they can get a look at the real Manny.
Big Schill hits the nail on the head as usual. Manny was dragging the team down and needed to be gone. You don't have to like Schill as a person, I sure don't, to admit his sports comments are generally accurate. Looks to me like he's angling for a broadcast job with NESN, ESPN, or whoever will take him. He might even be good at it. If he feels so bad about taking the $8M, he could always be an honorable guy and give it back to the team or give it all to charity. Nobody said he has to cash the checks, and he certainly doesn't need the money to live at a level beyond comfortable.
I saw Manny play the past 3 nights at PNC Park against my Pirates. They showed bloopers inbetween innings and the one of Manny rolling around in the outfield and falling on the ball was played. Manny pointed to the big screen and laughed. I was sitting 2 rows back in left field and watched him the entire game. Man he can hit though....you guys should feel lucky to have Bay....he was the ultiamte Pirate. Brandon Moss is slowly looking alright but he is no Bay and Hansen is plain terrible. I will root for Bay to put up numbers but that is it.... I can't stand BOSTON.....not one thing about it. I don't think you guys realize how much of the country can't stand you. I can't wait for the Rays to go to the WS over you guys while you cry. At least you have the Patriots....maybe they can cheat themselves into the playoffs. Have fun when Brady turns into Carson Palmer or even Culpepper....he won't be the same after that injury. He won't be "wicked awesome" anymore...
With Manny : 2 rings
Without Manyy : no rings.
Nuff said!
Jason Bay rules!!!! We'll take him back in the "burgh anytime. A great guy and never takes a play off. We're rooting for him here.
I think Manny handled leaving the right way. He carried the team for a lot of years and the pressure of something like that can be unbearable. Also, he was getting old and it was only a matter of time before he stunk up the place. Schilling? Why is everyone on Schilling? We would not have won in '04 without his great courage. Does everyone forget the bloody sock? Come on, let's stop rewriting history. We can't even beat Tampa any more.
Today we have to many over paid ball players who are just out for the money. They do not care about the fans at all. Tey are just over grown cry babies. The teams owners should quit giving them everything they ask for, like big money for doing nothing, no hustle or hard playing.
Manny is the Man! I'd rather play on a team with Manny than a Schilling any day.
With Schilling two rings. Without Schilling no rings. Nuff said.
The biggest joke of all is that MLB features Manny in the push for the post season commercial as "can one man make a difference?" You can tell that MLB has no respect for the players & fans by doing that. Boras & Manny should have both been punished by the league.
Schilling should worry about his own issues. The one true thing he said was that he is the last person who should be speaking about another player. and this was a player I all but worshipped for the whole bloody sock thing. Manny is doing his thing is LA, keeping his mouth shut, and helping his team. With fans like most of you I would want out of Boston too. Ingrates. Go Manny. Go Dodgers.
us dodger fans think it was real nice of you bean towners to send us your heavy lumber. and you even picked up the tab. you guys are sooooo nice. see u in the post season!
manny is great hitter but his acts like childish... selfish....greedy
manny is cancer in clubhouse !
manny and boras , they are insane for money
we will love jason bay !!!!!
Glad to see Schilling shooting his mouth off again. How many innings did he pitch this year? What an attention whore.
Although I disagree with Shilling on political issues, I will be forever indebted to him for helping bring us the championship for the first time in the 50 years that I have been a Sox fan. I had doubted that I would ever see that happen, and his courage and dedication to the game was a big part of our success.
Just watching how he studies the hitters and prepares for the game shows how much respect he has for baseball. His community involvement and charitable work make him a worthy role model. Of course, Manny tried to help a neighbor sell a grill on E bay, but that doesn't compare with Shilling's work for ALS and Melanoma.
Yes, we'll miss Manny's great bat, but I won't miss his attitude. I am sorry he
let his fans down.
Shut up about Manny, you people. He's gone from the Sox now, let it be! I'd bet $$ that the Sox front office put a bug in Schill's ear to bring this up now...geez, ONE DAY after the chatter about Manny & NL MVP---- How convenient. Stop the bitterness, it is so unbecoming. I was a Sox fan for years, but honest to god, they bore me to death since the Manny trade. Sure, I flip the channel now and then to check the score between dodger commercials, but they always seem to be choking on their bullpen lately. Watching Manny and the blue is so much more fun nowadays!
CURT SCHILLING WHOOOOO???? this guy robbed the Sox of $8million by sitting his ass at home criticized about other players (e.g BARRY BONDS, and now MANNY)..that pussie SCHZLING didnt do shit at the wolrd serious if it wasnt the offense and defense the SOX had behind him! one noisy fat asssss! why cant he just mind his own business and families!
Kurt Schilling sounds like a jealous asshole, like he is. When the spotlight is off him, he gets offensive and acts like as ass How many games has Curt played?? He will not get a contract from any of the MLB teams, but that is beside the point. He is over the hill and insignificant. Get over your career and stop gutting your teammates. I will not buy your book!!!!
I think what really sucked was that Manny quit, in the middle of a season. It's really Boras who should be investigated. And he represents our "beloved" captain, I'd like to point out.
What I always remember is that, indeed, these are paid men whose job skills are hitting, catching and throwing a little ball (it's a great game, ain't it?). Doesn't mean they're great people. Doesn't even mean they're decent people. They might do things like be greedy, quit, talk lots of trash, take money when they can't play, throw people under countless buses. But both Schill and Manny were crucial to both '04 and '07 Championships.
I think our lineup suffers some without Manny, but we still have a shot. We've got a better shot than the Dodgers at any rate and the Rays (I don't care about these last two series).
Let's just move on, enjoy some great fall baseball and hope the Sox can make a run. The rest is just drama and bull.
As for our friend matt from PGH, I'm glad to hear you speak for the rest of the country. I would say go to a game at Fenway Park, watch highlights of the '04 season, learn about the history of the Red Sox and you might understand why some people are such devoted Sox fans. It isn't all glory. I think Pittsburgh is a cool town and I'd like to get to a game at PNC Park, it looks beautiful. Maybe you should come to Boston and do the same before you trash us.
What Manny did here was outrageous! What's the difference between throwing a game to affect the outcome against the spread in a gambling scheme vs. a player dogging it to get out of a contract and get a bigger contract. It's all about the money! Manny in the hall of fame? Hell, Manny and his agent should be banned from baseball!
Wake up...Manny is doing well playing in the Senior League against AAA competition, anytime he faces real pitching...he falters, similar to his performance with the BoSox this year. Manny skills have diminished over time, but his present circumstances places him as a "man against boys". I agree... he is running out ground balls, and appears to be paying attention...after all he is playing for "the future money...he is no fool". The real issue is "will the Yankees pony up 85-100 M/ 4 years...hell no, and neither will another AL EAST/CENTRAL team. Simply put, his past behavior has set the negotiating tone...he is a virus to team harmony.
In my opinion, there's a world of difference between being honest and blunt and being negative. If we're honest with ourselves, and taking Schills out of the conversation for a moment, most of us can say that toward the end of his tenor with us, it was frustrating to see him just being a jerk. He was either perfect or a 5 year old....especially during the Skanks series.
Yup, he's a good player but I have no respect left for him. You jack me/my team, you get jacked back. Simple. No hatin' just no respect. It's earned and he has not done that. He unearned it.
Now, back to Schilling. For those of you so fervently dissing him now, you're not doing it to him as Schilling the player, you're seeing him as Schilling the Republican and last I checked this is baseball not politics. You know you adored him in 2004 and now you're hateful?! Grow up! We are all entitled to our opinions and to be lobbing personal comments is obnoxious, rude, immature and does not speak highly of your fandom when you go below the belt!
I just can't believe more has not been reported on the role od Scott Boras in all this. Follow the money.
I just can't believe more has not been reported on the role of Scott Boras in all this. Follow the money.
I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan and I was always behind Manny, I still am. Manny brought us some of the most exciting baseball Boston has ever seen. I don't doubt was Curt says. You can't deny that Manny was a huge pain in the ass but, we looked passed it because he was so damn good.
As fans, we don't know the half of what goes on in the club house. I always thought that a peek inside what goes on would be so interesting. After all I read and have read I don't want to know anymore. I don't care what goes on in the club house. From talking to a lot of fans they don't want to know either. It ruins things and causes arguments between Sox fans.
You will never convince me that the organization didn't orchestrate that whole Anti Manny campaign that went on via the media. That was terrible. Way to air your dirty laundry.
Please, Curt, Theo and Owners: Keep it private, it's unprofessional and it puts the whole organization and the fans in a bad light.
farce, which is what this organization has become since it won the world series in 2004
Seem to recall them winning it last year too.
Look up farce in the dictionary.
It's under F - like fool.
And if anyone is going to 'credit' Manny for the team winning 2 Rings, you have to 'blame' him for every year his team didn't. Ridiculous.
Great hitter - shitty baseball player.
Red Sox suck.
Gonna love watching you losers blow the division series.
Hey Ed, Matt and all the rest of you jealous a***oles! Your stupid comments simply confirm that we have been blessed with great sports teams and you haven't. Learn something from us - we don't disrespect other teams for winning. We tip our caps and move on.
For those that still defend Manny, you can't be real Sox fans or even baseball fans because if you had been watching each game, like lots of us, you would have watched his performance change. In the beginning of the season he was trying harder and looked like he cared. During those last few weeks, he hit a teammate and purposely knocked down a senior citizen Sox employee, refused to play, was lousy in clutch situations and didn't run out ground balls that he would have been safe on. The Sox had no choice but to trade him. Dodgers fans that think that this was a mistake have no clue as to what his real identity is or how negatively he can impact a clubhouse. If he had continued his antics into the post-season he might have been nursing a hangnail at home instead of performing and producing. Not to mention his effect on the rest of the team and no Jason Bay.
and Matt, fo you and for those equally jealous idiots that still refer to the Pats as cheaters, consider the fact that you could have taken 30 photos a second of the sideline and be totally exonerated, but if you took 30 fps of video, you violated the rule. The Pats also proved in every way that the video did not make a difference. They were in violation of a technical rule and were penalized. Others did the same and were not penalized. Every team tries to get an edge, as many ex-coaches have confirmed in dozens of interviews. The Patriots are an organization of high moral standards and they always try to express a deep respect for the game of football. They are leaders. You are just a jealous fool.
