Lineups updated

Items of note: J.D. Drew is batting fifth in his first game since Aug. 17, and Chris Carter makes his first major-league start in place of Jason Bay in left field. Jed Lowrie, 0 for his last 17, gets the day off because "I thought he needed it," Terry Francona said. Jason Bay gets the day off simply for some rest.

  1. why is Tito sitting Jason Bay?
We need him in the lineup to win games.
Especially with a gimpy JD Drew back in the lineup.

    C'mon!!!

  1. Does it make more sense to have Kotsay at left and Carter at first?

  1. Francona said this morning on WEEI that he will be sitting at least one regular player each night to give guys rest for the playoffs.

  1. Matt, winning the Division is a pipe dream right now. If the Rays even win one more game, the Division is theirs.

The priority should be making sure everyone's rested and ready for the postseason rather than running everyone ragged in a fight that can't be won.

  1. The point is Choo is quietly tearing up the league. He certainly hasn't been the topic of much conversation so far. Who is this Choo? One thing seems evident, the Tribe has already started their year on, year off trend and look to be competitive again next season.

  1. jason, a 1.043 OPS means that he is hitting the c#@P out of the ball.
