It's official. The Red Sox combined for 20 hits, their second highest total of the season, on the way to a 14-2 victory over the Orioles at Fenway Park. Dustin Pedroia had five runs batted in, tying a career high, to lead the offensive attack.

  1. The Red Sox combined with who for 20 hits? That wording is stupid. You could say the Red Sox collected 20 hits today or something like that.

Combined would be used if you were to say Baltimore and Boston combined for 27 hits today or Ortiz and Pedroia combined for 6 of Bostons 20 hits and 9 of the teams 14 RBI.
