Too little, too late

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 6, 2008 11:06 PM

The Red Sox went down fighthing, piecing together four consecutive singles, getting an RBI double from Sean Casey, and scoring four runs in the top of the ninth off of Kameron Loe, but it mattered not a bit in the final outcome. The Texas Rangers have defeated Boston, 15-8. Bad night for just about every Boston pitcher who stepped to the mound, except maybe Javier Lopez. He walked one batter and retired another, and that was his workday.

The rubber game in the three-game series in Saturday at 3:05 p.m. Paul Byrd (10-11, 4.58) vs. Brandon McCarthy (1-0, 2.35).
