Traffic Violations
Ever been at an intersection where one set of lights flashing yellow and the other sets flashing red, and you don't know whether to stop or go, and there's a car coming behind you?
So that's Vernon Wells's excuse.
After blasting his second double of the game off the Monster, breaking a stretch of eight straight retired batters by Sox pitcher Paul Byrd, Wells sort of lost his bearings between second and third on a single to left by Kyle Overbay, and got gunned down at third pretty easily by Jason Bay.
Turns out it cost the Jays some breathing room on the scoreboard as Adam Lind took another one of Byrd's pitches to the wall, scoring Overbay. But then Lind tried to stretch his double out to third and got nailed (8-6-2-5, if you're scoring). So what could have been a huge inning for the Jays turns out to be a relief for Paul Byrd (he's allowed four runs in two of his four wins).
On the flip side, Sean Casey mustered the Sox' only hit in the bottom of the fourth, as Burnett continues to deal.
Jays 2, Sox 0.
