Sveum possible but unlikely
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - While Dale Sveum is the first name one might have considered as a possible replacement for first-base coach Luis Alicea, a major league source indicated he might be staying in Milwaukee in a different capacity. Sveum was let go as the interim manager of the Brewers last week.
Sveum, the former Red Sox third-base coach and a good friend of manager Terry Francona, drew some fans' ire during his tenure in Boston with a few runners getting thrown out at the plate.
NESN's Ken Macha would also be another candidate, but he's now emerged as a frontrunner for managing jobs in both Milwaukee and Seattle. Macha formerly managed the Oakland A's.

Worth considering, as long as he doesn't coach third --- no more "Send 'em in Sveum," please.
Also, the man's last name is spelled SVEUM.
also, the phrase is "out of the chute". CH-ute. Not "SH-ute".
Any internal candidates? We seem to develop great players, front office, any coaches that are ready for the big leagues?
I think if Macha doesn't get hired as a manager with someother clun the Red Sox should seriously look into hiring him as the 1 Base Coach....a former MLB manager and coach why not?
Don't shute the messenger!
How about Willie Randolph - just to "yank" the Yankees' chain
A few times? Whadda ya kiddin' me? :-)
