Masterson gets the eighth

Posted by Tony Massarotti, Globe Staff October 2, 2008 12:32 AM

Justin Masterson is entering the game to start the eighth, probably based on the fact that the Angels have a switch-hitter (Teixeira) and two right-handers (Guerrero, Hunter) coming up. Teixeira generally is better from the left side, but it seems Francona doesn't want Okajima to face the right-handed hitters in the middle of the Angels lineup.

In any case, if Masterson gets one or two outs, we would see Papelbon.
