No game tonight
Philadelphia's hopes of celebrating its first World Series title since 1980 will have to wait at least another day.
Game 5 of the World Series, which was postponed in the sixth inning Monday night because of rain in Philadelphia, will not be resumed tonight, a major league source told the Globe's Nick Cafardo.
The continued inclement weather in Philadelphia -- it was 44 degrees and raining in the area as of 1 p.m. -- led to further postponement. The Phillies and Rays are tied, 2-2, in the sixth. Philadelphia leads the series, 3-1.

Bummer that we're getting partial posts fed to our RSS readers now, instead of being able to read the entire blog entry. (In fact, we're only getting a few dozen words - not even a nice chunk.) I guess Boston.com wants us all to click on through to rack up some page views.
But if we're forced to do that now, can you/they at least stop serving up the annoying pop-behind ads all over the place? Seems like a fair trade.
Anyway, I miss how the Extra Bases blog was handled back in the good ol' days. Little bits of nuance and insight served up whole. Simpler, better times.
Why dont you have the full text in the rss feed anymore. I'm probably gonna unsubscribe.
You got to get Larry down to Philly.
you never announce a rain out until at least an hour after the start time.
think of all the increased consession (it is the post season, you can charge $15 per Coke) sales the Phillies lost!
