Strong finish for Lester

Posted by Tony Massarotti, Globe Staff October 2, 2008 12:25 AM

He finished with 117 pitches and hit 95 mph in his last inning. No earned runs. One walk. In the final two innings, he struck out four and did not allow a ball out of the infield.

Now that was an ace-like performance.

Still 2-1 Sox into the eighth.

  1. While Lester started out a little shakey, he just became amazing as the game progressed. I've been impressed with him all season, but his performance tonight was absolutely ace-like. I was at game one of the ALDS last year (Beckett's four-hit shut-out), and Lester's game tonight has been almost as incredible. Let's hope we move on through the post-season and get to see him just CRUSH people again.
