Jason Bay was chosen as the 2008 winner of the Chuck Tanner Award by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. The award recognizes the Pirates player whose professionalism, cooperation and availability best assist major league writers in
carrying out their daily responsibilities.

Bay was traded to the Red Sox July 31.
