The Globe's Tony Massarotti previews Game 4 of the American League Championship Series and offers analysis on the lineup changes the Sox made before meeting the Rays in a game Massarotti dubs "as close to a must-win" as the Sox can get without being an elimination game.

  1. The Manny-haters won’t say it, but you know they have to be thinking it.

The Red Sox miss Ramirez’s bat.

The fact is that none of the BS that led up to his being traded really matters now. The stuff about “addition by subtraction”, the warm-fuzzy atmosphere that’s now supposed to be the rule in the locker room, the absence of all those horrible “distractions” - all that stuff was really shown for the baloney it was yesterday.

The Red Sox line-up, minus the consistency of Ramirez’s bat, is a pathetic thing to see.

Francona is looking for a spark?

The spark was hounded out of town, and the Manny-haters know it - they just won’t say it.

  1. Have to feel for Terry but this team is over-hyped and old.
