Weather watching

Posted by Matt Porter, Globe Correspondent October 16, 2008 01:45 PM

A peek at the local radar shows showers in the Boston area currently, but there's a pocket of clear skies stretching from Newton to Route 495. Behind that, there are showers moving from 495 to Worcester, and scattered rain behind that. The Weather Channel states the rain should clear for good in the 9 o'clock hour. From Weather.com:

Today: Overcast with rain showers at times. Thunder possible. High near 65F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Tonight: Rain showers early with clear skies overnight. Low 44F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

So the game looks to be a go. The Red Sox, of course, hope they can win tonight and cause a "reign delay" for Tampa. (Boo. Sorry. Had to.)

  1. Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and Game 5 can be played at Fenway.
Also, let's hope DICE-K can give Tito at least six-seven, innings, cut down on his walks and have a solid outing. Even if the Sox lose this game, I'd at least like to see them go down fighting, in contrast to Games 3 and 4 where they just flat-out got their butts kicked by the Rays.

  1. Why is Amalie a "pink hat"? Because she's a female? All of this childish "pink hat" name calling in red sox nation is getting tiresome.

  1. To Fakename: Yeah, I know it was lame. Probably a little nervous energy about tonight...anyway, sorry my humor isn't always as dry as yours.

If you knew anything about journalism, you'd know Amalie - and the other beat reporters (not to be confused with columnists or bloggers) - is paid NOT to have an opinion or rooting interest in the team she covers. I don't find her to be a pink hat in any way. She gives the facts, unless she's asked on NESN for a little bit of opinion. Shaughnessy, Ryan and Mazz, to name a few, are in a different category altogether, but they are paid to give their opinions, so it's not a shock that they do.

  1. What are the chances the game's gonna get delayed? And by how long? If there's a 9 pm EST start, I don't have to leave work early...

To MP: your humor isn't as 'dry' as his. That's good. Even better than your original.
