Posted by Chad Finn, Globe Staff October 8, 2008 02:13 PM

A limited number of tickets for Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 of the 2008 World Series, should it come to Fenway Park this season, will be available for purchase while supplies last and by telephone only beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.

Fans who registered and were selected in the random online drawing for the opportunity to purchase tickets for the World Series will be notified via e-mail today.

A limited number of tickets will be sold via touch-tone telephone at (617) 482-4SOX beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct.10th. Fans with disabilities may call (877) RED-SOX9 beginning at noon Friday to purchase accessible seating while supplies last. The Red Sox’ TTY number is (617) 226-6644.

No tickets will be sold at the Fenway Park ticket office.

There will be a one-game, two-ticket purchase limit per customer. Ticket prices for the World Series, as established within the parameters set forth by Major League Baseball, are $250 for field box and loge box seats, $225 for pavilion box and right field box, $175 for grandstand seats, $100 for bleacher seats and $50 for standing room. All orders will include an $10 per ticket and $15 per ticket transaction fee.

The home schedule for the American League in the World Series will be as follows: Game 1 (Wednesday, Oct. 22), Game 2 (Thursday, Oct. 23) and, if necessary, Game 6 (Wednesday, Oct.29) and Game 7 (Thursday, Oct.30).

  1. I love how, "All orders will include an $10 per ticket and $15 per ticket transaction fee." Does it cost more in the post season for a ticket transaction than in the regular season? It's the same crappy ticketing system the Red Sox use in the regular season, why does it cost more? Is this a special system or just another way to milk the fan base out of a few extra bucks? Do hot dogs, soda, and chips cost more at the world series as well? I love our New England teams but I am getting sick and tired of being nickeled and dimed just so millionaires can get richer.

  1. I agree! Kids in this day and age are not interested in baseball anymore, because:

    A) Can't afford to go to the games anymore

and B) The play-off games start way too late for kids to stay up and watch.

Enjoy it while you can baseball owners and players because once this generation grows up and wants nothing to do with baseball. Baseball will dry up.

Hey maybe it needs to come full-circle? Little interest, lower ticket prices, thus new interest?

I just feel sorry for this new generation. They'll never have their own memories from my national past time: Baseball . The memories I hold near and dear to my heart.

  1. Let me get this straight: You're buying tickets directly from the team, who is hosting the game and owns the venue but you have to pay a ticket and transaction fee in addition to the cost of the ticket? Exactly how is it that a team is allowed to charge a selling fee for selling THEIR OWN TICKETS?

  1. If you bought tickets online today from the online lottery, can you still buy tickets on the phone at 3pm. It said two tickets per customer but didn't know if this referred to specific sales or totality.
