The Red Sox announced this afternoon that tickets for all 2009 spring training home games at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla. will go on sale Saturday, Dec. 6. The club also released its 37-game spring schedule, which includes 18 home games.

The Sox will open their spring schedule Wednesday, Feb. 25 with split squad games, hosting Boston College at 1:05 p.m. at City of Palms Park and traveling across Fort Myers to take on the Minnesota Twins at Hammond Stadium at 7:05 p.m.

  • The Sox will face the New York Yankees twice, March 13 in Fort Myers and at Legends Field in Tampa March 24. Both are 7:05 p.m. starts.

  • They will host Team Puerto Rico in a World Baseball Classic exhibition game Thursday, March 5, beginning at 12:05 p.m.

Tickets will remain at the 2008 prices, part of the Red Sox' 2009 ticket price freeze. The annual games with Boston College and Northeastern (Feb. 28) will be half price. Here are the prices:

    1. Wouldn't it have been helpful to include the prices, not just say they're the same?

    1. Weird it shows TBD for 4/3 and 4/4, considering we've known since August those will be games at the new Citi Field vs. the Mets.

    1. Try and book tickets for spring training at Red Sox.com
While this story says you can do it, there is no way through the website -- unless you want some overpriced package.
You'd think it was the Edinburgh Military Tatoo!

    1. How many of the Sox players will be with the team and not at the World Baseball Classic (or whatever it is)?

    1. Craig, I guess you missed this section:

    1. They DID include the prices, Craig.

Obviously, they are charging what they are because they can get it, but c'mon--box seats from $36-$46? That's pretty ridiculous for an exhibition game.

    1. Additionally, it's much more affordable to go see the Red Sox on the road, such as in Bradenton where the Pirates play. It's probably gone up since then, but the last time I went to see a game there, it was $6, which was for a seat, not SRO.

    1. Why does it say the Red Sox are playing the Yankees in Ft.Lauderdale on the 13th of March but the schedule has them playing in the City Of Plams?

    1. Who cares about spring training (unless you live in FL)? What about regular season tickets? when do they go on sale?

    1. they did the right thing by keeping the ticket prices the way they are

    1. As Spring Training Season Ticket holders, we too are wondering how many players will be playing at the World Baseball Classic instead of in Fort Myers.

    1. Looking to take my 13 year old son to Florida for a long weekend to catch some Sox Spring Training. Any recommendations for motels/hotels (with a pool) that are near ity of Palms Park would be greatly appreciated. As an alternate, if Red City of Palms/Ft. Myers is too difficult to see due to Sox popularity, would appreciate suggestions for other town/parks to go to, and motels/hotels. This would be our first trip to any Spring Training, and we'd both be pumped for it! Thanks very much.

    1. Where do they practice at? We are near Fort Meyers now but will not be here for the first game. We would like to go see practice, but a friend tells me they don't practice at same place as the exhibition games.
