Damon loves CC deal
LAS VEGAS -- Johnny Damon is thrilled to have CC Sabathia as his new Yankees teammate.
Reached at his home in Windermere, Fla. Damon said, "I'm shocked because I went to bed last night not hearing much and then I woke up and there were reports that he's a Yankee. I think that's great. We're out there rebuilding our team and we're going to get back into the playoffs. We needed to have a horse and now we have our horse."
Damon said of his own experience in facing Sabathia: "I think he's one of the premier guys in the game. He's one of the most durable guys. He can pitch deep into games. There's no down side to CC. He's a good guy on the team and he'll be a leader and a guy younger pitchers can look up to. He's kind of a throwback guy in that he likes to pitch pretty deep into the game. I think this is great."
Asked about whether he's been recruiting old Red Sox pal Derek Lowe to the Yankees, Damon said, "Haven't yet. That would be great to get Derek. He's another guy who can pitch big games. He always takes the ball. I'd love us to get him too."
Was he worried whether the Yankees would not get someone?
"Well, it's not easy to get guys to play in New York, so maybe signing CC helps us with other guys," Damon said.

"Well, it's not easy to get guys to play in New York..." - That's a telling comment right there...
"I'm shocked because I went to bed last night not hearing much and then I woke up and there were reports that he's a Yankee." Right, because I'm sure most other signings have been discussed with Johnny Damon ahead of time, right?
Damon is a moron. Who cares.
And once again, the Yankees epitomize the very reason baseball needs a salary cap. Ridiculous. Let CC blow another playoff game...just like the Yanks have blown over a billion dollars in the last 8 yrs on no results w00t.
Why is ANYONE still talking to JD at this point? He's going to be a total Yankee homer, so what is the point? Hoping he'll say something stupid? Well, I suppose there is a good chance of that.
Why the heck would we care what Damon thinks?Must be a slow news day.
Explain to me why anyone would care what Johnny Damon's opinion is on anything. What he said about Sabathia was entirely predictable and totally irrelevant. Damon's not a bad guy, but who on earth cares what he thinks?
Who's Johnny Damon?
This is a Red Sox blog...why do we care what Johnny Damon has to say about Sabathia joining the Yankees? Boston.com needs to create a separate blog for non-Red Sox baseball items.

CC is the size of a horse
"We needed to have a horse and now we have our horse."
John, I love ya, but what you need is a whole stable. This is a chariot race, not the Kentucky Derby.
When he was our center fielder we cared. He isn't and we don't.
There is no reason this is news - from a guy who doesn't care who he plays for, can't throw and is losing his wheels. If he wants a horse, he got one - in this case, a overly priced horse.
I love the line where he says that "We're out there rebuilding our team and we're going to get back into the playoffs." I wonder if he realizes that he could be someone that they replace.
Who cares what Johnny Damon thinks!!! It will be his last hurrah in New York and he did about as well for the Yankees as Pedro did for the Mets!!!
Yah, Damon's psyched to pitch a pinstripe tent in his backyard using CC's pants.

I love this deal too -- and I'm a Red Sox fan. This guy was at his peak a year ago and still crashed and burned in the ALCS. He should have stayed in the NL. He'll be 300lbs. by 2010 and the Yankees will be wondering how to move the 5 years left on his contract.
Teixeira is the only free agent who matters this year.
Again. NO ONE cares what Johnny Damon thinks. Why do you waste our time with this grap
Oh Johnny, you fooled us for a few years into thinking...well I don't know. I do know you're a tool.
I hope Demen falls in a ditch
TRAITOR
He went from local legend in New England to just another hired gun in New York. What a downfall. I hope the few extra million was worth it, you lying scumbag...
and yeah, those 2007 rings were mighty nice.
Nick, You're a great baseball writer....but for some reason you love Johnny Damon. You write about him and A-rod way too much....no one cares about them!
