FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Red Sox are currently in meetings prior to their first full workout here at the minor league complex. Some of the hitters - David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, J.D. Drew and Jason Bay, spent time in the batting cages.

Red Sox owners John Henry and Tom Werner, CEO and president Larry Lucchino and senior adviser Jeremy Kapstein, were supposed drop by to watch part of the first workout.

The crowds continue to be shallow compared to other years, but we'll get a better idea later today. Boston isn't the only team which has experienced thinner crowds early in spring training. Even with the buzz about Alex Rodriguez' press conference there was a smaller than usual crowd in Tampa and our own Bob Ryan said there were maybe 100 people in Port Charlotte.
