Daniel Bard and Paul McAnulty were reassigned to the Red Sox minor league camp after today's 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Bard struck out 11 in 9 1/3 scoreless innings, but he might have made his biggest impression when he fired a 100 miles-per-hour fastball. Bard proved he has the stuff to pitch at the major league level, and he hopes to get the chance.

"Hopefully, I opened some eyes," said Bard, who assumes he'll be sent to Triple-A Pawtucket. "The big thing for me is experience. It just takes time. We'll see. It's not for me to decide. A lot of things happen. I don't think the same 12 pitchers you start the season with are the same 12 you finish with."

McAnulty’s demotion thins the field vying for the 25th roster spot -- vacant until May because of Mark Kotsay's offseason back surgery -- to three: Chris Carter, Jeff Bailey, and Brad Wilkerson. McAnulty, who batted .256 with a home run and nine RBIs in 39 at-bats, will start the season at Pawtucket.
