CLEVELAND - Daisuke Matsuzaka is out in right-center field playing long toss and continuing his shoulder strengthening program. It's expected the Sox will go slow with Matsuzaka, making sure his body and shoulder are 100 percent before he's incorporated back into the rotation.

Other things we'll be watching today on warm day here (temperatures in the mid-80s):

*We'll get an update on J.D. Drew who came out of last night's game with a tight left quad. He's not expected to play this evening. Jeff Bailey will likely be in right field with lefty Cliff Lee going tonight.

*Mike Lowell has received American League Player of the Week honors after hitting .435 with a major league high 11 RBIs.

*We'll also have more on Jacoby Ellsbury stealing home against the Yankees. Ellsbury's cellphone was quite active last night and this morning and we'll get an idea of who called.

*Julio Lugo was activated today (Michael Bowden optioned to Pawtucket) and will be available tonight but Nick Green is expected to be in the lineup. From tonight on, however, Terry Francona likely will diminish Green's role at shortstop and use him as a true utilityman. Francona explained the situation to Green yesterday.

*Tim Wakefield has tossed two CGs, though one of them was a rain-shortened seven innings. We'll see if those two outings have taken any toll on the 42-year-old starter.

*The Sox re-signed righthander Devern Hansack after they waived him last week. Hansack is rehabbing his right shoulder in Fort Myers.
