It's Tito's birthday
Terry Francona will spend the day he turns 50 at the ballpark for a doubleheader.
"Probably appropriate," he said.
About that, he's right. Since Francona made his professional debut at age 21 with the Memphis Chicks in 1980, he has played in or managed 3,106 professional baseball games. He had made no birthday plans, even before the doubleheader.
"We had a night game scheduled," Francona said. "I would have been in here at 10:30. I'd have kicked Pedey's [backside] in cribbage. Then just, play the Twins. All the days are the same."
This one will just be longer. For their first twin bill of the season, "we'll certainly have some decisions to make after the first game, with them having a lefty going in the second game," Francona said. "We'll kind of assess where we are and go from there."
Mike Lowell might be the designated hitter in the second game, but first "we've got to get some things figured out," Francona said. With lefthander Francisco Liriano pitching, the Sox want to load up as many righthanders as they can.

Happy Birthday Tito! Thanks for the Two Titles. I'm already enjoying the chase for #3.
And thats a surprise?
How many people can get out of work to attend a game rescheduled for the next afternoon...
It sucks since Minny wont be back this year. The Sox dont care... they already got the ticket money.
Happy Birthday Tito!
Go Tito! It's my birthday too but I'll only be at the park for the night game.
Happy Birthday Tito!!! I hope to be at the game tonight... if Mother Nature cooperates.
Nice win today. Happy 50th Birthday, Tito.
Happy Birthday Tito!
I, too, celebrated my 50th birthday in Fenway Park
this past Sunday and had a GREAT time.
Happy 50th Birthday Tito, with wishes of many more happy and healthy ones! Hope Mikey is ok, since they had him listed as probably DHing if his hip felt ok. He's been doing great so far would hate to see him have any kind of setback. Nice win today, and seems like another tonight. Great bday present for you, the guys really luv-ya! You're the best manager in the game, keep up the good work, and I luv-ya too!
