SEATTLE -- Javier Lopez was outrighted to Pawtucket, after being designated for assignment Sunday to make room for Daniel Bard. The lefty specialist will remain with the organization after clearing waivers.

Lopez had a 9.26 ERA this season in 11 2/3 innings with the Sox.

  1. Good. For all of the good work he's done for the Sox, he deserves another chance once he gets it together again.

  1. Thats all very nice, but when are we going to move Papi in the the lineup?
I know what patience Tito has, but lets get real. Send him somewhere to find his mojo, like maybe 7th, after Drew grounds into a double play.

  1. why not just cut ties with the guy? He's probably the worst left handed specialist in baseball.

  1. Classy Lefty. He'll be back! Anyone know the name of the music that's played when he enters into a Fenway game?

  1. Hopefully Ortiz will be next!

  1. Good - here's hoping he can regain his form. He's a class act and we will need a special out lefty again.

  1. Best of luck Javier. Anyone who watches AAA baseball realizes how many players lose a bit of confidence and just slip off the radar from the Majors. Hopefully you will be one of the ones who will find your footing once more and return to "The Show".

  1. In 3+ years with the Sox (including this years awful stats) Lopez was 5-3 with a 3.30 e.r.a. in 172 games (and a World Series ring). Really awful stuff, huh?

  1. I like Javy and hope for his sakes he returns to the bigs, whether with the Sox or another team.Tito is going to have to sit Papi or move him down in the order to Drew's spot, now all they need to do is ship Bailey back to Pawtucket.

  1. Wow @ Ashton. How soon we forget.

Then again, this is a fanbase that booed Keith Foulke, a guy who pitched his arm off to win a World Series for the Sox. Guess they'll turn on anyone.

    Stay classy, Sox fans.

  1. It was the right move to make given his struggles this year, but anyone who posts that he "is the worst left-handed specialist in baseball" or "he's not only awful, but he's bad luck" has clearly not paid attention the last few seasons.

  1. d: I have a feeling it was not only his recent performance but that coupled with the $1.35 million he's owed this year that may have scared some teams off. I'm stunned, though, considering some of the bullpens out there.

  1. Whats Tony Fossas doing now?

  1. #1 good?? He has been the worst pitcher in baseball for 2 years now. He is a left-handed specialist that can't get out lefties. Just looking at his pathetic mug when he is out there makes me sick

  1. Pozman, last year he had a 2.43 ERA and held lefty batters to a .182 average. If you think that qualifies as the worst pitcher in baseball, you know less than nothing about the game.
