John Smoltz pitched five innings today with Low-A Greenville against Charleston. He allowed one run on four hits, walking none and striking out six. He threw 73 pitches, 52 of them strikes. The outing was Smoltz's most aggressive rehab start yet. Smoltz plans on making two more rehab starts, both with Triple A Pawtucket, before making his Red Sox debut in mid-June.

  1. Good to hear Mr. Smoltz is on track. Say good-bye to B. Penny - a return to the NL to should bring either a ML player or a couple of decent prospects in return.

  1. The people of Pawtucket must be getting their cameras ready for this arrival. What a way to wind down a career.Pawtucket, then Atlanta?May he save the best for last.Holy Smoltz,Theo,is this what you paid 5 mil for?May it be worth it.The media is waiting. The Baseball Gods, may they be with you John Smoltz as you plunge the dagger in the Braves' heart. This would cap off his resume.Another story for Baseball Trivia.

  1. When a guy can can call Tiger Woods on any given day and set up a golf game, pitching for the Sox is just a nice, lucrative sideline.
